A Message From Father Lucho
Dear Pelican Valley ACC,

This Sunday, our Diocese of Saint Cloud joyfully celebrates the feast of our patron saint, Saint Cloud, born in 522, son of Clovis, King of the Franks, in present-day France. After his father's death, his uncles attempted to seize the throne, slew his brothers and attempted to take his life. Miraculously, he escaped to Reims, where he lived in the episcopal house of the Bishop of Reims, Remigius, where he learned to love charity and wisdom. He returned to Paris and, cutting off his beautiful, long royal hair, renounced the throne to live, as a hermit in the woods along the river opposite Paris. He sought to do the Lord's will, but was unable to find the solitude he longed for. The people of the area sought him out for his wisdom; the parishioners of a small fishing village came to him and asked him to be their parish priest. He accepted and was ordained by the Bishop of Paris. He served until his death in 560. He is buried in the small village church, now called "Saint Cloud" in honor of their beloved pastor.

What a great example Saint Cloud sets for us in discipleship, radically following Jesus, renouncing everything and doing God's will here and now in our Pelican Valley and in our diocese that bears his name! May Saint Cloud intercede for all of us who embark on the "All Things New" plan, led by the All Things New Committee, to continue building the Kingdom of God with vibrant communities journeying as pilgrims of hope.
